Quake Live will be the free-to-play version in the popular classic Quake 3. Re-released like a browser based FPS with slight graphic and gameplay updates Quake Live is sure to interest any fan of old school FPS mayhem. Most free shooters nowadays tend to become tactical shooters where players are equipped like modern day SWAT squads or soldiers. The weapons are almost always M16s and AK47s. In Quake Live everything is very different. You ll be running around futuristic maps constantly hopping to avoid rockets. There are teleporters and jump pads scattered through the over forty arenas (maps) and twelve different weapons available though don't assume all weapons might be found in every arenas. Quake is a traditional FPS so there aren't ranks or levels. Players usually do not gain experience points but their stats for example kills/deaths wins/losses and accuracy are recorded generating available online. Players can alter their avatars at any time because it doesn't have effect beyond cosmetics. There are still five supported games modes and they are Free For Many - A very common game mode for casual play. These usually possess a time limit but almost always end when one player reaches the pre-set point requirement (usually 30.)
Team Death Match - Similar to FFA however the players are split into two teams with victory going for the team that collectively reaches the predetermined point value first.
Capture The Flag - Two teams battle against each other and make an attempt to bring the opponent s flag to their base. Individual players do receive points for fragging but the one method to win a match would be to capture the flag and score capture points. Whichever team reaches the pre-set score requirement or has the most points when time runs out will be the winner.
Duel - Single v 1 test of skill. Just two players and something arena. Who ever gets probably the most frags wins.
Clan Arena - Two teams fight out but players usually do not respawn upon death until the round is over. The last man standing wins the round for his team.
